Introducing Myself
My name is Mohammad Bader also known as The Traveler or The Arabian Traveler.
I was born in the Old City of Jerusalem and lived on a road called Chain Road, which was about 2 blocks from Chain Gate one of the main Gates to enter The Dome of The Rock (قبة الصخره) and Al-Aqua Mosque (مسجد الاقصى).
After completing my BA in English at Bethlehem University, I immigrated to the USA in 1986 and stayed in the USA ever since. I pursued graduate work in counseling.
I am A National Certified Counselor NCC and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Oregon.
Writing is my hobby and for my day job, I’m an administrator and a director of social services and human services.
I mainly write poetry to tell my story and to relate to the world as an Arab and Palestinian American. I read my poetry in public and am happy to accept invites to read poetry or to speak about my background. I published my book The Traveler in 2011 and it is a compilation of more than 20 years of living in America while missing home. The book addresses four topics: Love, Peace vs. War, The immigrant and the Mother Land, and Utopia Vs. Morbidity. I learned that for every high there is a low and for every laughter, there is a tear and vice versa in the scheme of things, that sum the human emotions and that is perfectly normal. Those ups and downs are what make us strong and what makes us experience the full range of life.
As a counselor, I focus a lot of my work on helping interracial and interfaith marriages, stress management, Sustainable Business Practice, Social and Racial Justice, Employee development, and executive coaching.
